We’re hosting a ‘Bad Art Night’ for adults

Adults of all ages and skill levels can engage their artistic side during Bad Art Night at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 19, at our Lake Branch.

Make the art of your choice. At the end of the program, participants will vote for their favorites. The best “bad art” will win a trophy.

It’s free to participate. Space is limited though, so registration is required. Sign up online or call our Lake Branch at 440-257-2512.

Learn how to use an Air Fryer during a free cooking demonstration with local chef LaDonna Oltmanns.

Oltmanns is the head chef for Nourish Café in the Pop Life building in Cleveland. Her demonstration will be 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 20, at MPL’s Main Branch. She’ll show how to use the fryer to prepare appetizers, entrees, sides, and even dessert. Come hungry and ready to sample!

Bestselling Author Madeline Miller Talks Modern Epics

Bestselling author Madeline Miller will explain how she crafts modern epics during an online conversation at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 21.

Miller wrote The Song of Achilles and Circe, both of which mined Greek mythology for stories and characters that still resonate with readers now. In addition to being an award-winning writer, Miller earned a master’s degree in classics from Brown University and studied dramaturgy at the Yale School of Drama where she focused on the adaptation of classic texts into modern forms. She also taught Latin, Greek and Shakespeare to high-school students for over a decade.

Celebrate Dog Man with Us

Kids (ages seven to 11) can celebrate Dog Man during a fun and free program at 1 p.m. on Friday, March 15, at ourLake Branch. Dog Man is a pup-ular canine crusader and star of several graphic novels by writer and illustrator Dav Pilkey.

The children will play Dog Man bingo and enjoy a personality quiz to see which Dog Man character they are most like. Each child who attends will also receive a free Dog Man graphic novel to take home.
