Enjoy an all-day crop-a-thon for scrapbookers

Scrapbookers rejoice! We’re hosting an all-day, crop-a-thon for scrapbookers on Saturday, Feb. 17, at our Main Branch.

The fun will go from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Scrapbookers should bring their supplies for a full day of cropping. Each participant will have a 6-foot table to use.

The event is free and open to all adults. Due to limited space, registration is required. Sign up online or call us at 440-255-8811 ext. 1.

Discover the region’s role in the Underground Railroad

Discover the region’s crucial role in the Underground Railroad during a talk at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 8, at our Lake Branch.

Lake and its adjacent counties were dotted with havens for escaped slaves and often served as their final stops on their journeys to Canada. Tonya Busic from the Lake County History Center will share stories from the local paths, introduce some of the people involved, and discuss the laws that governed this perilous time in history.

We ❤️ American Girl

We’re celebrating American history with a fun program for kids and their dolls at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 10, at our Main Branch.

Children (ages six to 12) can bring their favorite 12-inch doll to the library for an afternoon of crafts and activities inspired by the historical American Girl dolls.

What’s Shaking, Shakespeare?

Kids can learn about William Shakespeare with the Fine Arts Club at 4 p.m on Tuesday, Feb. 6, at our Main Branch.

The club uses history and hands-on activities to explore different artforms – from ballet to costume design to watercolor painting – on the first Tuesday of each month. Learn about Lincoln’s Reelection

Abraham Lincoln is widely thought of as one of the nation’s best presidents. However, he nearly lost his reelection bid in 1864.

Todd Arrington, site manager at James A. Garfield National Historic Site, revisits 1864 when Lincoln hoped to win a second term. But Democratic candidate George B. McClellan didn’t make it easy, and voters were split between those who thought the Civil War needed to continue and those who wanted to make peace with the Confederacy.
