We had so much fun this Thursday at our Pokémon Picnic!

Kids searched our lawn for Pokémon lurking in the tall grass, played PokéGames, ate PokéSnacks, and made some cool Pokémon crafts. (Dig those Pikachu headbands!) Visit our Facebook page for more snaps from our picnic.

As you can tell, we’re hosting in-person programs at the library again. Check out our event calendar to see everything that’s happening here.

And while you’re here, don’t forget to sign up for Summer Reading! Kids, teens and adults can win spectacular prizes for reading this summer. The more you read, the better chance you have to win one of our fabulous prizes. For more information, visit www.mentorpl.org/summerreading2021.

Pokemon League at the library

Our young Pokemon trainers battle Gym Leader Meredith for a badge.

Kids competed in our first ever Mentor Pokemon League earlier this week.

The kids each received their own pokemon — 3D printed at our library — for them to decorate and battle with.

The young trainers then battled against five of our gym leaders and earned badges for each leader they defeated. We had a lot of fun (even if our poor Abra could use a trip to Nurse Joy.)

By the way, if your children like video games, we have a club they’ll love.

MPL Arcade meets the third Tuesday of each month. Our next meeting is Oct. 17 at 4 p.m. at our Main Branch. In addition to Wii U games, we also play tabletop and board games, so kids can still have fun while they’re waiting for a controller.

And, of course, we have hundreds of video games that you can borrow from us, including titles for Nintendo Switch.

The program is free and open to all teens (11 to 18 years old.) We even provide the supplies.
