By |2020-05-13T06:00:15-04:00May 13, 2020|

Has COVID-19 thrown your finances into disarray? You’re not alone!

That’s why we’re sharing this free program from Steve Leskovec of Western Reserve Consulting. He explains the seven steps that you can take to ensure financial freedom.

Those steps include:

  1. Building an emergency fund.
  2. Paying off your debt.
  3. Saving 3 to 6 months in expenses.
  4. Investing in your retirement.
  5. Paying for your children’s college.
  6. Paying off your home early.
  7. Building wealth and giving.

Leskovec offers the best practices for decreasing debt, funding retirement, and paying for college. He also provides practical advice for budgeting and selecting an investment advisor.

By the way, if you’re an entrepreneur, Leskovec previously offered advice for financial wellness in the workplace. You can watch that here, as well.

Leskovec will also offer financial advice for individuals and families during a second program entitled The Road to Financial Wellness. It will stream at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 12. He will explain the basics of creating a spending plan and share seven steps to financial freedom and security.

This program will be shared online via Zoom and is free to attend. You will need to register for the programs via our online calendar. After registering, you will be emailed the link to participate a day before the program. (If you don’t find it in your inbox, please check your spam folder.)

That program will also be recorded and available for viewing at a future date on the library’s website, Facebook page, and YouTube channel.

Celebrating Women Artists: Helen Dryden & Lee Miller

By |2020-04-22T15:00:06-04:00April 22, 2020|

To commemorate National Library Week, Barb Hauer examines and celebrates the work of Helen Dryden and Lee Miller.

Hauer prepared this talk for our Book & Brush Club, which she has led since its inception in 2009. Each month, she offers a visual presentation based on the lives of artists and associated art movements based on either art historical fiction and nonfiction.

Our buildings may presently be closed because of the coronavirus, but we can still share Hauer’s presentation with you!

Dryden is best known as a cover artist for Vogue, while Miller began as a model before becoming an acclaimed photographer and war correspondent. Discover more about these talented women who forced themselves into artistic realms that were dominated by men.

For more Mentor Public Library programs, we encourage you to visit our YouTube channel. For years, we’ve been posting many of our full programs and author interviews there. You can watch:
