By |2021-11-02T15:43:00-04:00November 3, 2021|

Mary Lintern and Deborah Weinkamer from James A. Garfield National Historic Site revisit two of these most infamous murders of the previous century.

By coincidence, both of the “Crimes of the Century” involve a famous (and famously caddish) architect, their mistress, and a madman. Discover how the love triangle between the world’s first supermodel Evelyn Nesbit and two millionaires, Stanford White and Harry K. Thaw, ended in a shooting atop one of New York City’s most famous landmarks.

Then learn how several members of Frank Lloyd Wright’s family and staff came to a horrific end while in Taliesin, one of his most famous homes.

Discover All about the Moon

By |2021-10-24T12:38:44-04:00October 24, 2021|

Discover all about the moon during this special talk with Chris Mentrek from Geauga Park District’s Observatory Park.

Figure out how you can use just three letters (COD) to track what time of the “moonth” it is. Learn what a blood moon is. And a blue moon! Also, Chris offers tips for checking out the lunar eclipse that will be visible in November.

Also, if you’re looking for help searching the skies, we loan both binoculars and telescopes. They can be borrowed for up to two weeks.

By the way, Mentrek visited us earlier this year to discuss star maps and apps that can help amateur skygazers identify constellations, planets, comets, and even satellites overhead. You can watch that program on our YouTube channel.
