Families take a deep breath together during the Yoga Kids story time at Mentor Public Library.

Families take a deep breath together during the Yoga Kids story time at Mentor Public Library.

We mixed poses and prose during our Yoga Kids story time earlier this month.

Our yoga instructor Darlene Kelbach led families (yes, the adults too!) through a series of poses while Ms. Robin read them Yoga Kids by Fearne Cotton.

The kids got have fun while stretching their minds and bodies. Plus, they got to make a craft afterward.

By the way, adults can learn about yoga at the library too. A health professional from Morris Chiropractic will lead a beginner’s yoga session at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 6, at the library. She will also explain the benefits of yoga for your overall health, as well as the health of your spine specifically.

All experience levels are welcome to the yoga session. However, you are asked to bring your own mat. The program’s free to attend, but registration is required. You can sign up online or call us at (440) 255-8811 ext. 247.

Like the idea of moving more but need to start slowly? Want to decrease stress but don’t know where to begin?

Try chair yoga! You can join us for a free session at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 28, at our Main Branch. If you haven’t heard of it, chair yoga is exactly what it sounds like — different yoga positions and stretches that you can do while sitting in a chair.

Yoga has been linked to everything from reduced stress and boosted immunity to weight loss and stronger muscles. And you can see these benefits even if you start small.

This special program is open to all and free to attend. However, we do ask that you register beforehand. You can sign up online or call us at (440) 255-8811 ext. 247. Our yogi will be Lindsay Rieder from Awaken Yoga in Mentor.
