Learn the newest research about gaming, gambling, and kids during a special program at Mentor Public Library.

Learn the newest research about gaming, gambling, and kids during a special program on Tuesday, March 3, at Mentor Public Library.

We’re hosting a program to keep parents (and other guardians) informed about gaming, gambling, and their kids. It will be 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 3, at our Main Branch.

Claire Spada, a prevention specialist with Lake-Geauga Recovery Centers, will explain the benefits and risks of the video games, smartphone gaming apps, and e-sporting events that our children may be participating in.

You can learn about healthy gaming habits and the newest research that takes a look at gambling activities within gaming activities. The program is free to attend and open to all. We only ask that you register beforehand. You can sign up online or call us at (440) 255-8811 ext. 216.

As part of our 200th anniversary celebration, we’re collecting supplies for a different locally based nonprofit each month this year.

In March, we’ll collect donations for Lake-Geauga Recovery Centers. Lake-Geauga Recovery Centers has helped thousands of Lake and Geauga County residents on their paths of recovery from substance use disorders.

You can support their mission by donating toiletries for Lake-Geauga Recovery Centers’ Residential Treatment facilities, including:

  • travel-sized soaps, shampoos and conditioners
  • toothpaste
  • toothbrushes
  • deodorant
  • shaving cream or lotion
  • feminine hygiene products.

We’ll be collecting donations at our Main, Lake and Headlands Branches all through March.

By the way, our Year of Giving continues all year. The calendar is:

July – Project Hope
October – Forbes House
November – Broadmoor/Deepwood

Thank you for giving if you can! And check here for more ways you can enjoy 200 years of Mentor Public Library.
