Readers of all ages – kids, teens and, yes, adults – can win spectacular prizes during Summer Reading! Sign up at any our branches starting May 30.

Once they’ve registered, kids (those entering sixth grade or younger) will earn a raffle ticket for every hour they read or are read to. The more they read, the better chance they have to win one of our prizes!

Children can also earn fun rewards along the way. If they reach:

  • five hours, they’ll receive a bag of coupons from local businesses
  • 10 hours, they’ll receive a foldable frisbee. They can vote for which color certain library employees will dye their hair.
  • 15 hours, a Library Champion yard sign or window cling. (One per family.)
  • 20 hours, they will earn a golden ticket and a chance to win a $50 gift card.

Additionally, kids will receive a bonus prize if they complete the Story Walk Challenge by visiting nine story walks in Mentor and Mentor-on-the-Lake, including those at Mentor Public Schools’ elementary schools and outside of MPL’s Main Branch.

Meanwhile, teens (those entering seventh grade and older) and adults can sign up for summer reading in person at the library, online at mentorpl.beanstack.org, or by using the Beanstack app. Then you can use Beanstack to record what you read. For every book you read or audiobook they listen to, you’ll receive an entry into one of our teen or adult prize raffles.

This year’s theme is Adventure Begins at your Library. And we’re hosting programs for all ages this summer that celebrate adventure and may encourage you to find your next experience. Check out the full event calendar here.

Summer Reading launches Thursday, May 30, with a visit from Outback Ray and his outstanding animal friends at our Main Branch. The last day to earn raffle tickets is Saturday, July 27.

We would like to thank our Summer Reading 2024 sponsors: Debbie Davis from the Friends of Mentor Public Library, Cleveland Clinic Mentor Hospital, and Meijer.
