Many of our programs fill to capacity and accrue a waitlist of people who wish to attend. When someone registers for a program and DOESN’T attend — without letting us know beforehand — it denies other people a seat in the room and wastes the library’s resources.
For some of our programs, we must restrict attendance due to limited seating and/or the cost of supplies. If someone registers for one of these programs and then doesn’t attend TWICE, they will automatically be put on a waitlist for the next MPL program they want to attend. This is out of consideration for fairness and allows other people an opportunity to enjoy our programming.
This will not apply to people that call the library to cancel their attendance at least 24 hours in advance.
For these programs with limited space, we will now require that patrons provide an email address when registering. This allows us to contact them with an email confirming and reminding them of their registration.
