We’ve added a pair of new language-learning databases — Little Pim and Learn ASL — that you can access for free via from our website!

Little Pim uses short 5-minute videos to help children learn the basics of several languages, including French, Spanish, Hebrew, Italian, Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, Arabic, German, Russian, Korean, and Portuguese. The database is available on our Kids Resource page.

Next, we added an American Sign Language database. It also uses short videos to teach signs and other tools to communicate using ASL. The database can be accessed here.

Additionally, we still offer Mango Languages — a database that offers online instruction in more than 70 languages, including Spanish, French, Japanese, Italian, German, Korean, Chinese (both Mandarin and Cantonese), Russian, Arabic, and Hindi.

It uses an adaptive algorithm to provide a personalized language-learning experience. It can empower you to communicate with confidence when experiencing a new language and culture. To start learning, visit our Databases page and select Mango Languages.

These databases are free to use with a card from any public library in Ohio. To use them, you’ll need an email address to create an account. Once you do, you can practice the language of your choice online or by using the Mango Languages app.
