Update: My Library Rewards is coming to an end, but you still have time to redeem your earned points for some great rewards.

The program will stop adding points on Oct. 15 and you will have until Oct. 31 to redeem them.

My Library Rewards is a third-party vendor. Mentor Public Library worked with them, so you could earn discounts on food, recreation, and gift cards for checking out library items. Unfortunately, the pandemic-induced recession has not excluded libraries – nor the companies that serve libraries – and My Library Rewards is shutting down completely.

We apologize for the inconvenience, but it’s not something that we have control over.

Original Post: My Library Rewards has expanded the deals and discounts that Mentor Public Library patrons can receive, simply for borrowing items from our library’s branches.

You could already earn discounts on food, recreation, gym memberships and more from dozens of local businesses. Now, they can receive gift cards from national businesses as well, including Nike, Whole Foods, eBay, Target, Amazon, Panera, iTunes, Sephora, Barnes & Noble, Starbucks, Hollister, Cheesecake Factory, World Market, GameStop, Adidas, California Pizza Kitchen, Sam’s Club, Jo-Ann Stores, DSW, Petco, JCPenney, Lowe’s, StubHub, Chuck E. Cheese, Macy’s, Foot Locker, Kohl’s, and more.

Here’s how it works:

  • Using your library card number, you can sign up with MyLibraryRewards.com. Registration is free.
  • Then, whenever you check out an item from Mentor Public Library—be it a book, video game, or movie—you get 10 points. If you check out five items, you get 50 points, and so on. You can earn up to 100 points each week.
  • Next, you can “spend” those points to receive discounts and even free services at local businesses.
