Discover the story behind one of the most infamous crimes to occur in Lake County!
Local historian Ginnie Jeschelnig will explore the robbery of the mobbed-up Mounds Club in Willoughby Hills. The club was owned by Cleveland mobster Tommy McGinty and a favorite nightspot for both gangsters and Cleveland’s high society. On Sept. 29, 1947, masked gunmen stormed the club and stole $500,000 in cash, jewels and fur from its clientele.
Jeschelnig will share the inside story during a free program at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, July 24, at our Main Branch. Due to limited space, registration is required. Sign up online or call us at 440-255-8811 ext. 1.
