We learned about ocean layers, erosion, and how blubber works during the first Marine Monday of Summer Reading.
Kids of all ages can join us at 1 pm on the Main Lawn of our Main Branch every Monday during Summer Reading (except for the Fourth of July.) We’ll have awesome aquatic activities and crafts. No registration required!
This year’s theme for Summer Reading is Oceans of Possibilities and we’re hosting programs for all ages this summer that explore and celebrate lakes, rivers, oceans and aquatic life. Check out the full event calendar on our website!
Readers of all ages – kids, teens and, yes, even adults – can explore Oceans of Possibilities and win spectacular prizes during Summer Reading at Mentor Public Library.
Once they’ve registered, kids (those entering sixth grade or younger) will earn a raffle ticket for every hour they read or are read to. The more they read, the better chance they have to win one of our prizes. Children can also earn some fun rewards along the way. If they reach the 10-hour mark, they can vote for the color Miss Marilyn and Miss Gillian will dye their hair. Also, kids who read at least 20 hours during Summer Reading will earn a golden ticket and a chance to win $50 gift cards to Target or Amazon.
Meanwhile, teens (those entering seventh grade and older) and adults can sign up for summer reading in person at the library, online at mentorpl.beanstack.org, or by using the Beanstack app. Then they can use Beanstack to record what they read. For every book they read or audiobook they listen to, they’ll receive an entry into one of the library’s teen or adult prize raffles.
The last day to earn raffle tickets is Sunday, July 31. Happy reading!
