Discover the story behind the famous Green Book during a special online program that we hosted last week.

The Green Book was published by Victor Hugo Green from 1936 to 1966. It provided a rundown of hotels, guest houses, service stations, drug stores, taverns, barbershops and restaurants that were known to be safe ports of call for African-American travelers. The book became even better known after a 2018 film named after it won the Academy Award for Best Picture.

This program looks into the formation, history and importance of the Green Book.
