Teens transformed plain canvas shoes into intergalactic kicks earlier this summer at our Main Branch.
- Plain canvas shoes. You can start with any color; but, if you pick white or light tan, your colors will show better.
- Permanent markers. Once again, you can pick your palette. Purples, pinks, blues, and turquoises all look great!
- Rubbing alcohol and a sprayer.
If there are any parts of the shoe that you don’t want colored, start by taping them off.
Then, go to work with the Sharpies. There’s no such thing as a mistake here. Make sure you switch up your colors a little and leave some space to blend, but anything you make will be eye-catching and unique.
Finally, use a spray bottle to liberally mist your shoes with rubbing alcohol. This will blend your colors.
If you want, you can also use white paint (fabric, acrylic, or even glitter) to add some stars.
When you’re finished, let the shoes dry for at least 24 hours before you wear them.
By the way, craft credit goes to Every Day Best for inspiring us.
