Discover the story behind Cleveland Municipal Stadium during a free talk at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 3, at our Main Library.

The vision for the stadium was ambitious — a venue that would draw thousands for events like boxing, football, track, soccer, operas, and community celebrations. Naturally, baseball would be its lynchpin. The new stadium would bolster the economy, increase tax revenues, and elevate Cleveland’s status. But there was a problem: The Cleveland Indians didn’t want to play there.

Local historian and author Dennis Sutcliffe will lead this entertaining look into Cleveland history. The program is open to all. Due to limited space, registration is required. Sign up on our website or by calling us at 440-255-8811 ext. 1.
