We’re hosting free screenings of a pair of classic movies this September at our Lake Branch.
First, come see Philadelphia Story at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 18. The film stars Hollywood legends Cary Grant, James Stewart and Katharine Hepburn in a romantic comedy about a socialite whose nuptials are complicated by the arrival of her ex-husband and a tabloid journalist.
Then, enjoy the screwball comedy Ball of Fire – starring Gary Cooper and Barbara Stanwyck – at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 25. Laugh along as a nightclub performer provides her unique insight to a group of professors laboring to write an encyclopedia.
Both Academy Award-winning films can be enjoyed for free. Due to limited space, registration is required. Sign up on our program calendar or call our Lake Branch at 440-257-2512. Registration opens two weeks before each screening.
Mentor Public Library is taking everyone to Hollywood this September. We’re celebrating the golden age of cinema all month long with programs about Hollywood history and special screenings of classic films! Browse our event calendar to learn more.
