Explore some of the Civil War’s bloodiest days during a program we’re hosting at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 8, at the Concord Township Community Center (7671 Auburn Road, Concord Township.)

Our librarian John Foster will discuss the Battle of Chickamauga where more than 28,000 Union and Confederate soldiers were killed or wounded. The fatal fight occurred from Sept. 18 to 20, 1863, near Chickamauga Creek in northern Georgia.

In addition to being a reference librarian, Foster has a doctorate degree in history. He has taught history at both high school and college levels. Previously, he has led series on the Battles of World War IIthe Cold Warthe American RevolutionThe Vietnam Wars, and US Presidents of the 20th Century at the library.
