The Mentor Board of Education is seeking applicants for one Mentor Public Library Board of Trustees position.

This trustee position would fill the remainder of a term that is open due to a resignation. Library trustee terms are seven years in length and this term expires Dec. 31, 2025. The new trustee would begin immediately upon appointment and would have the opportunity to seek reappointment for the following term from Jan. 1, 2026 to Dec. 31, 2032.

In Ohio, local boards of education have appointing authority for school district public library trustees. Applicants should submit a letter of interest including:

  • Place of residence
  • Length of time residing at current address
  • Reason for interest in serving on the library board
  • Community involvement and service experience
  • Names and contact information for up to three individuals who may serve as references

The deadline for applications is Feb. 26, 2025, with interviews planned for March 3, 2025. The applications will be reviewed by a committee of school district and library officials. This committee will recommend an individual to the board of education for appointment. The board looks to appoint the new trustee at its regularly scheduled March meeting on the 11th.
